What you need to know as you become eligible for Medicare with your 65th birthday.
Identify the time period you are eligible to enroll. Generally, when you turn 65, you begin what is called the Initial Enrollment Period. It lasts for 7 months, starting 3 months before you turn 65, and ending 3 months after the month you turn 65.
Plan for today and the future. We recommend evaluating your financial plan and correlate it with the health coverage you have today and what you may need down the line.
Accumulate all of the relevant health information, most importantly your medications and treating providers, in order to be prepared to identify the appropriate plan for your needs.
Educate yourself about Medicare plan options. We recommend speaking with licensed individuals who are able to help compare and contrast your options.
ENROLL! Once you have identified the plan suitable for you, enroll in the plan and start to receive the benefits.
